Will India and Pakistan face each other in the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27? On this interesting question, former Indian opener and commentator Aakash Chopra has recently given his opinion on the fate of both the teams.
He says that both the teams have a great chance to reach the final, but the path will not be easy.

What is Aakash Chopra’s opinion?
Aakash Chopra, while talking on his YouTube channel, focused on India’s home series.
He said that India has to play against West Indies, South Africa and Australia at home. And his prediction?
“I think we’ll win all three series. We’ll beat West Indies and South Africa, though it won’t be that easy because we’re going through a transition phase too, and we’ll beat Australia as well.”
Wow, what confidence! But he also believes that the team is going through a transition, so every match will be a challenge.
Now it’s Pakistan’s turn. Chopra believes that Pakistan has also got a good draw. Their home series are against New Zealand, South Africa, and Sri Lanka.
He said, “Pakistan have home series against New Zealand, South Africa, and Sri Lanka. They really need to do well. Pakistan should perform well at home provided they don’t start poorly. Their away series are against England, West Indies, and Bangladesh.”
Chopra also added that Pakistan can win in West Indies and Bangladesh, will compete in England, and has a good chance to beat all three teams at home.
But he warns that Pakistan has got easy schedules in the past as well, but could not win the series at home.
Talking about India, Chopra said on the overseas series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand,
“We have an away series in Sri Lanka. I expect us to rack up a lot of points there. New Zealand will be tricky. I think we’ll be okay. We’ll be in the race again. We’ll be in the top three or four. Of course, since we’re going through a transition, you can’t say with complete conviction that India will definitely qualify, but I see India as a strong contender.”
On Pakistan Aakash Chopra Openion
he said, “Pakistan have a favorable draw again. Wins in West Indies and Bangladesh, a bit of a fight in England, and beating Sri Lanka, New Zealand, and South Africa at home. Pakistan have a good chance.
Though, I’ve said this about Pakistan before as well, when their away series were in West Indies, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. However, they didn’t win a single series at home.”
The idea of an India-Pakistan final is thrilling, as India have played the last two WTC finals but lost, and were knocked out in 2023-25 after losing 0-3 to New Zealand at home.
This will be Pakistan’s first final if they qualify. Will this dream come true? Time will tell, but Chopra’s words suggest that the fortunes of both teams could shine.
