Recently, India’s five-match Test series against England was announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and the England and Wales Cricket Board. India hasn’t been able to win any match on the soil of its opponent since 2007 when Rahul Dravid captained them to victory against England with a 1-0 score.
This series is also one of the most anticipated within ICC World Test Championship cycle 2025-27. India played four test matches during their last visit to this country under Virat Kohli’s leadership in August and September of 2021 in which they won by 2-1.
In their last encounter, the two teams faced off in a Test series where England suffered a 1-4 defeat to India on Indian soil. Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma and with standout performances from opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin, England’s aggressive ‘Bazball’ approach fell short against India’s home advantage.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has intentionally scheduled matches at venues favorable to England’s swing bowlers. To facilitate player recovery, there is a week’s break between the first and second Tests, as well as an eight-day interval between the third and fourth Tests.
