Kolkata Knight Riders’ new mentor Dwayne Bravo recently revealed that he had messaged Gautam Gambhir when he joined the team. Bravo was made the mentor last year when Gambhir left the post after becoming the head coach of the Indian cricket team.

Dwayne Bravo is also the mentor of the Knight Riders franchise in the MLC, International League T20 and Caribbean Premier League apart from IPL. His experience can prove to be very important for the team.
In a press conference, Bravo said, “It would be disrespectful for me not to try some of the good work he did last season. But the core of the team is still there, and it was our responsibility to go back to the auction and try to bring back as many players from the championship-winning team as possible.”
Bravo also talked about his relationship with Gautam Gambhir. He said,
“I think GG (Gautam Gambhir) has his own style, I have my own style. We are both successful in our own way. I have sent him messages many times. I will trust these guys (captain and coach) a lot because they had a formula to be successful and it is important that we follow it.”
Under the leadership of Gautam Gambhir, KKR won the IPL 2024 title last year i.e. IPL. It was their third IPL title and the first in a decade. Gambhir had a big role in it and many of his decisions proved to be game-changers.
How strong is KKR’s army in IPL 2025?
KKR tried to bring back most of their core players in the IPL 2025 mega auction. They retained Rinku Singh, Varun Chakravarthy, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Harshit Rana and Ramandeep Singh ahead of the auction.
However, the team could not bring back their previous captain Shreyas Iyer, who got a huge deal of Rs 26.75 crore from Punjab Kings. Ajinkya Rahane is the new captain of KKR this season, while Chandrakant Pandit is serving as the head coach.
However, this time with a new mentor, KKR will try their best to defend their title, and Dwayne Bravo will have the responsibility to ensure that the team’s success continues even in the absence of Gambhir.
