Ahead of the start of IPL 2025, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have suffered a major setback. According to a Times of India report, fast bowler Akash Deep has been ruled out of the opening matches of the tournament.
Actually, Akash Deep, who has been away from the field since the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, is not fully fit yet.
He suffered a back injury in the fourth match of the Australia series and has been working on his fitness since then.
Akash Deep is currently working on his recovery at the BCCI Center of Excellence in Bengaluru. According to reports, he has not yet received fitness clearance from the NCA team. Due to this, he will not be able to play in the first few matches of the tournament, putting the LSG team in trouble.
LSG now has many injured fast bowlers. Apart from Akash Deep, Mohsin Khan, Avesh Khan and Mayank Yadav are also included in this list. These three have not yet joined the team and it is not clear whether they will be able to play in IPL 2025 or not.
According to reports, Mayank Yadav has started bowling at BCCI’s Center of Excellence, but there is no information about his coming to Lucknow. He has not bowled at full speed yet and it seems that he will also not be able to play in the initial matches.
Talking about Mohsin Khan, he has a calf injury and there is very little hope of him playing in IPL 2025. There is some good news in the case of Avesh Khan. He has become fully fit before the season, but it is not yet decided when he will join the LSG team.
Reports also say that the franchise may give contracts to Shardul Thakur and Shivam Mavi before the start of the tournament. Both of them have been practicing with LSG for the last few days.
Both of them did not find any buyer in the IPL 2025 auction and now they will have a good opportunity to showcase their abilities.
LSG will be captained by Rishabh Pant in IPL 2025. The team will play its first match against Delhi Capitals in Visakhapatnam on March 24. The last season was not good for LSG and this time they would like to make a strong comeback.
