It would be a big win for CSK if they can bring Pant on board. According to The Indian Express, CSK has been watching Pant closely ahead of the auction. If Delhi Capitals don’t retain Pant, CSK is expected to make a strong bid for him.
Pant has been on CSK’s radar for a while, especially as they plan for the future with Dhoni likely playing fewer matches.
Pant could be a valuable addition to CSK, as he’s currently India’s top choice for wicketkeeping. With Dhoni nearing retirement, Pant would be a solid successor for the role.
Pant started his IPL journey with Delhi Capitals in 2016. Since then, he has scored 3,284 runs in 11 games, with an impressive average of 35.31 and a strike rate of 148.93. He’s delivered some key performances for Delhi including one century and 18 fifties. As the current captain, he’s a central part of their lineup.
A management change at Delhi Capitals might affect Pant’s future with the team. Previously run by the JSW group, the GMR group now manages the team, and they haven’t yet decided on Pant’s retention or his role as captain.
If CSK manages to sign Pant he would be paired with Dhoni, creating a much-anticipated lineup for the upcoming IPL season. Pant has often spoken about learning from Dhoni, and playing alongside him could be a big opportunity.
