    Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 9 wickets in the 38th match of IPL 2025 played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

    Chennai batted first and scored 176/5 in 20 overs, in response to which Mumbai scored 177/1 in 15.4 overs to register an easy win.

    Rohit Sharma’s unbeaten 76 and Suryakumar Yadav’s unbeaten 68 made Mumbai’s victory one-sided.

    1st innings: Chennai Super Kings 176/5 (20 overs)

    Chennai got off to a slow start, with Rachin Ravindra (5) getting out early. Ayush Mhatre (32 runs, 15 balls) gave a quick start, but Shaiq Rashid (19) was stumped in the middle overs.

    Ravindra Jadeja (53* runs, 35 balls) and Shivam Dube (50 runs, 32 balls) added 79 runs for the fourth wicket, which made the score respectable. Captain MS Dhoni (4) and Jamie Overton (4*) could not contribute much.

    Jasprit Bumrah (2/25) was the most successful bowler for Mumbai, while Deepak Chahar, Mitchell Santner, and Ashwani Kumar took one wicket each.

    • ​​Ashwani Kumar: 2 overs, 42 runs, 1 wicket
    • ​​Trent Boult: 4 overs, 43 runs, 0 wickets

    2nd innings: Mumbai Indians 177/1 (15.4 overs)

    177 runs Mumbai had a great start chasing the target. Rohit Sharma (76* runs, 45 balls, 4 fours, 6 sixes) and Ryan Rickelton (24) added 63 runs for the first wicket.

    After Rickelton was out, Suryakumar Yadav (68* runs, 30 balls, 6 fours, 5 sixes) along with Rohit made an unbeaten partnership of 114 runs, and ensured victory in 15.4 overs.

    For Chennai, Ravindra Jadeja (1/28) got the only wicket, while Mathisha Pathirana and Noor Ahmed proved expensive.

    The decisive moment of the match

    The decisive moment of the match came in the 13th over of the second innings, when Suryakumar Yadav hit two consecutive sixes and a four against Noor Ahmed to bring Mumbai closer to victory.

    The target of 177 runs was achieved by Rohit Sharma hitting a four off Mathisha Pathirana in the 15.4th over, helping Mumbai register a sensational 9-wicket win.
