Punjab Kings player Shashank Singh recently said a lot of things in Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast, in which he made a big claim about Prithvi Shaw and Nitish Kumar Reddy, who are out of Team India.

According to Shashank, if Prithvi improves some things, he can become the biggest name in Indian cricket. Along with this, he has also described all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy as India’s next superstar.
Shashank took part in a podcast on Shubhankar Mishra’s YouTube channel, where he was asked about the future of Indian cricket.
In response, he named Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill, which seems absolutely correct considering their international performance.
But surprising everyone, Shashank also added Prithvi Shaw’s name to this list.
He said, “Yashasvi is definitely a big name. Shubman is a very talented player. There is an underrated player in this list – Prithvi Shaw – if he gets back to his basics, no one is around him. I have known him for 13 years because I used to play for Bombay (Mumbai).”
Shashank further said, “There is nothing wrong with him. He has a different perspective of looking at things. He knows whether it is right or wrong, but right now if he can change his perspective for some things, then I think there is no one greater than him.”
The Punjab Kings batsman also mentioned the things in which Prithvi will have to improve.
He said, “These things include work ethic, fitness and some discipline as well. I am sure he must be doing all this because he has played Test cricket, but if he modifies some things, he can be even better.” Shashank Singh named Nitish Kumar Reddy when asked about the next big thing in Indian cricket.
He said, “I think Nitish Kumar Reddy is the next big player. His batting is good and people have seen potential in him. You cannot reach this level without performing well. But the selectors have seen in him the ability to win matches under pressure.”
He further said, “It is about performing well under pressure. Nitish has performed well under pressure. Even if he fails in some matches, he will get support, because he has performed well under pressure and it is right to support him.”
It is noteworthy that Prithvi Shaw, who was out of the team since July 2021 due to form and fitness, remained unsold in the IPL 2025 auction as well, but will try to make a comeback at the age of 25. At the same time, Nitish Kumar Reddy, who was retained by SRH for Rs 6 crore, will be seen playing in IPL 2025 after passing the fitness test.
