    IPL 2025: Priyansh Arya’s century helps PBKS beat CSK by 18 runs

    In the 22nd match of IPL 2025 played at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Chandigarh, Punjab Kings (PBKS) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 18 runs.

    Punjab batted first and scored 219/6, in response to which Chennai’s team could only score 201/5 in 20 overs.

    1st innings: Punjab Kings score 219/6 (20 overs)

    Punjab Kings got off to a bad start with Prabhsimran Singh (0), Shreyas Iyer (9), Marcus Stoinis (4), Nehal Wadhera (9) and Glenn Maxwell (1) getting out cheaply in the top order. Despite this, Priyansh Arya handled the innings by scoring a century in just 39 balls.

    His innings of 103 runs (42 balls, 10 fours, 6 sixes) put the team in a strong position. In the end, Shashank Singh (52) and Marco Johnson (34) remained unbeaten to take the score to 219.

    For Chennai, Noor Ahmed (2/47) and Mathisha Pathirana (1/38) took wickets, but failed to create pressure in bowling.

    2nd innings: Chennai Super Kings 201/5 in 20 overs

    Chasing a target of 220 runs, Chennai got off to a good start. Devon Conway (67) hit a half-century and kept the innings in check. Rachin Ravindra (32) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (15) were dismissed early. Shivam Dubey (42) scored runs quickly, but his innings was ended by Lockie Ferguson.

    In the end, MS Dhoni (27) hit some brilliant shots, but Yash Thakur dismissed him to shatter Chennai’s hopes. Ravindra Jadeja (9) and Vijay Shankar (2*) remained unbeaten, but the team lost by 18 runs.

    Yash Thakur (1/39) and Lockie Ferguson (2/26) played a decisive role for Punjab.

    • Shivam Dube – 42 runs (27 balls, 3 fours, 2 sixes)

    • Yash Thakur – 4 overs, 39 runs, 1 wicket
    • Arshdeep Singh – 4 overs, 39 runs, 0 wickets

    Decisive moment of the match:

    The decisive moment of the match came in the 19th over when Lockie Ferguson dismissed Shivam Dube (42), after which Chennai needed 28 runs. Later in the final over, Yash Thakur had MS Dhoni (27) caught by Yuzvendra Chahal, ensuring Punjab’s victory.

    Priyansh Arya’s 39-ball century helped Punjab reach a strong total, while Chennai failed to show aggression in the middle overs. This win was important for Punjab, while Chennai is facing consecutive defeats.
