IPL 2025: RCB Ends 84-Day Silence — Launches ‘RCB Cares’ After Stampede Tragedy

After nearly 84 days of social media silence, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have finally broken their quiet spell. The 2025 IPL champions returned online with a deeply emotional post, acknowledging the Bengaluru stampede tragedy that shook the city during their victory celebrations in June.

Their message began with a heartfelt line: “The silence wasn’t absence. It was grief.” With these words, RCB reminded fans that their long digital break was not about indifference, but about honoring those who lost their lives in the tragic incident outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

    A Tragedy Overshadowing Triumph

On June 4, 2025, RCB fans gathered in huge numbers to celebrate the franchise’s first-ever IPL trophy win. But what should have been a day of joy turned into horror. Overcrowding, lack of crowd control, and conflicting announcements led to a stampede that claimed 11 lives and left many others injured.

The incident drew widespread criticism of event planning and safety measures. Fans, families, and the cricketing fraternity demanded accountability, and since then, silence has surrounded the tragedy.

    The Launch of RCB Cares

Along with their statement, RCB also announced a new initiative called “RCB Cares.” This program is designed to:

    • Support the families of the victims.
    • Provide medical and financial aid to those injured.
    • Work on future event safety measures.

By launching this initiative, RCB is trying to transform their grief into action-oriented support, ensuring that the tragedy is not forgotten and that lessons are learned.

The reaction online has been overwhelmingly positive. Many praised RCB for choosing silence over routine celebratory posts in the aftermath of tragedy. Others lauded the “RCB Cares” initiative, saying it gives purpose to grief.

However, some also reminded that accountability must not be forgotten. Questions remain over event permissions, crowd control, and planning, which are now subjects of ongoing government investigations.

This episode highlights that sports, while celebrated with passion, also carry responsibility. The RCB management, along with KSCA and government bodies, has been asked to take stricter measures for future gatherings.

RCB’s latest move is more than just a return to Instagram or X; it’s an emotional reset. Their silence has ended, but their journey of rebuilding trust with fans and ensuring safety has only begun.

Dear 12th Man Army, this is our heartfelt letter to you!

𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘀 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲.

    In Shorts:

The line “Silence wasn’t absence, it was grief” will remain etched in the minds of RCB supporters. In a cricket-mad country where social media activity is constant, RCB’s 84-day break was unusual but powerful—it showed that sometimes silence speaks louder than words.

Now, with the RCB Cares initiative, the franchise has chosen empathy and responsibility over celebration, proving that champions aren’t only made on the field, but also in how they respond to adversity.
