    Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 5 wickets in the 30th match of IPL 2025 played at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

    Batting first, Lucknow scored 166/7, which Chennai achieved in 19.3 overs for the loss of 5 wickets.

    First innings: Lucknow Super Giants score 166/7 (20 overs)

    Lucknow had a bad start when Aiden Markram (6) was dismissed in the first over. Nicholas Pooran (8) also returned to the pavilion early.

    Mitchell Marsh (30) and captain Rishabh Pant (63) handled the innings, but the score was limited due to wickets falling at regular intervals. Pant hit 4 fours and 4 sixes in 49 balls. Ayush Badoni (22) and Abdul Samad (20) made useful contributions but Chennai’s bowling restricted them to 166.

    For Chennai, Ravindra Jadeja (2/24) and Mathisha Pathirana (2/45) took two wickets each while Noor Ahmed (0/13) bowled economically.

    Chasing a target of 167 runs, Chennai got off to a good start. Shakib Rashid (27) and Rachin Ravindra (37) added 52 runs for the first wicket.

    Rahul Tripathi (9) and Ravindra Jadeja (7) were dismissed early in the middle overs, but Shivam Dubey (43) and MS Dhoni (26) remained unbeaten to ensure victory. Dhoni hit 4 fours and 1 six in 11 balls, while Dubey hit 3 fours and 2 sixes in 37 balls.

    Ravi Bishnoi (2/18) bowled brilliantly for Lucknow, but Shardul Thakur (0/56) proved expensive.

    Defining Moment of the Match The breakthrough came in the 15th over when Digvesh Singh dismissed Vijay Shankar (9) to reduce Chennai to 111/5.

    After this, Shivam Dubey and MS Dhoni shared an unbeaten partnership of 57 runs to give Lucknow no chance to make a comeback. In the 19.3rd over, Dhoni hit a four off Avesh Khan to ensure a 5-wicket win.
