    Punjab Kings (PBKS) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 4 wickets in the 49th match of IPL 2025 played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

    Chennai batted first and scored 190/10 in 19.2 overs, in response to which Punjab scored 194/6 in 19.4 overs thanks to Shreyas Iyer’s 72 and Prabhsimran Singh’s 54 runs to win the thrilling match.

    First innings: Chennai Super Kings 190/10 (19.2 overs)

    Chennai got off to a bad start, with Shakib Rashid (11) and Ayush Mhatre (7) getting out early. Sam Curran (88 runs, 47 balls) played a brilliant innings and added 78 runs for the fourth wicket with Dewald Brevis (32).

    Ravindra Jadeja (17) and MS Dhoni (11) played short but quick knocks. Yuzvendra Chahal took four wickets in the final overs to restrict Chennai to 190.

    For Punjab, Yuzvendra Chahal (4/32) was the most successful bowler while Arshdeep Singh, Marco Johnson, and Azmatullah Umarzai took two wickets each.

    Chasing a target of 191 runs, Punjab lost Priyansh Arya (23) early. Prabhsimran Singh (54 runs, 36 balls) and captain Shreyas Iyer (72 runs, 41 balls) shared a 72-run partnership for the second wicket.

    Shashank Singh (23) played a quick innings, but Mathisha Pathirana took two wickets in the last overs to make the match exciting. Marco Johnson (4) and Josh Inglis (6) remained unbeaten in the end and ensured victory in 19.4 overs.

    Mathisha Pathirana (2/45) and Syed Khalil Ahmed (2/28) took two wickets each for Chennai.

    The decisive moment of the match came in the 19th over, when Mathisha Pathirana dismissed Shreyas Iyer (72) to reduce Punjab to 188/5.

    With 7 runs needed from the final 6 balls, Marco Johnson hit a boundary in the 19.4th over after Suryansh Shedge (1) was dismissed in Syed Khaleel Ahmed’s over, Punjab won by a thrilling 4 wickets.
