29-year-old left-arm spinner Harpreet Brar of Punjab Kings (PBKS) did wonders against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 59th match of IPL 2025.

In this match held on 18 May at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, Harpreet surprised everyone with his bowling and dedicated the Player of the Match award to his wife Mauli Sandhu.
Harpreet took 3 big wickets for just 22 runs in 4 overs. His economy rate was 5.50, which shows how frugal he gave runs. The first victim was RR’s dashing opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who was caught by Harpreet at the hands of Xavier Bartlett on a full length ball.
Then in the 8th over, Yashasvi Jaiswal was caught by Mitchell Owen at long-off. Took the third wicket of Riyan Parag, who was caught out on a length ball.
A Heartfelt Tribute
After the match, Harpreet spoke openly in the award ceremony.
He said, “This award is for my wife, because this is my first award after marriage.”
Harpreet also mentioned coach Ricky Ponting, who told him that a left-handed batsman can be easily dismissed by a left-handed bowler. Harpreet followed this tip and did not let the RR batsmen hit boundaries. His plan was – no boundaries, no easy balls.
Harpreet also praised PBKS spin coach Sunil Joshi.
He said, “Sunil sir taught me to use the crease and read the batsman.”
Also, Harpreet expressed happiness about bowling with a star leg spinner like Yuzvendra Chahal.
He said, “Bowling becomes easy with Chahal. When I got the chance, I thought – just grab it!”
This performance of Harpreet was no less than a treat for the fans of Punjab Kings. His bowling not only pushed RR on the backfoot, but also showed that with hard work and proper guidance, anyone can hit the ground
