The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is in a state of turmoil these days, it is reported that the board is fully prepared to show the way out to Gautam Gambhir’s support staff.
Not only this, the chair of Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar is also in jeopardy.

What is the whole matter?
Ever since Gambhir became the head coach of Team India, he included his trusted Morne Morkel (bowling coach) and Ryan ten Doeschate (assistant coach) in the support staff.
But now the BCCI is in the mood to oust both of them.
According to a scathing report by Telegraph India, after the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, the board will review India’s performance and Morkel-ten Doeschate may be sacked.
Why is the BCCI strict on Morkel?
The BCCI is angry with Morkel because he could not groom even a single fast bowler. On top of that, the decision to play Anshul Kamboj in the Manchester Test, who was not ready in terms of fitness, did not go down well with the board.
Ten Doeschate’s role is also under question, because his contribution in Test cricket has not been very good.
How is Ajit Agarkar’s chair in danger?
Not just the coaching staff, chief selector Ajit Agarkar and his colleague Shiv Sundar Das are also in trouble. The BCCI did not like some of their surprising selections.
The board believes that Gambhir and Agarkar are giving more emphasis on all-rounders, while specialist players are being ignored.
Gambhir’s Test record is shaky, yet his chair is safe?
Gambhir made the team shine in T20 and ODI, but the situation in Test cricket is bad. The 0-3 defeat at home against New Zealand and the 1-3 defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia upset the BCCI.
The board was particularly unhappy with the decision to keep star spinner Kuldeep Yadav on the bench. But, BCCI is not in a mood to remove Gambhir right now, because it believes that the team is going through a phase of change.
At present, if reports are to be believed, Morkel and Ten Doeschate may remain in the team till Asia Cup 2025, but their departure is certain before the next Test series against West Indies.
BCCI is now in a tough mood and is preparing for a big change. Agarkar’s chair may also be vacant soon.
