The final of IPL 2025 may have been a heartbreaker for Punjab Kings, but the team’s co-owner Preity Zinta has kept her spirits up even after the defeat.

After the 6-run defeat to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the final, Preity spoke openly for the first time and gave an emotional message to the fans.
On the social media platform X, she praised her team and also expressed the pain of defeat.
Preity wrote, “It did not end the way we wanted, but… this journey was amazing! Full of adventure, fun and inspiration. I loved our young team and the spirit of our lions.
The way our captain, our sarpanch, led and our Indian uncapped players rocked this IPL was amazing!”

Punjab’s journey in IPL 2025
This season was no less than a roller coaster for Punjab Kings. From reaching the top of the points table after years to facing many difficulties.
Player injuries, schedule disruptions, shifting of home ground, and even evacuating a stadium – yet the team did not give up.
“We broke many records despite so many difficulties. We fought till the last ball in the final,” Preity said.
Punjab Kings won 9 out of 14 matches and topped the league stage with 19 points. After losing to RCB by 8 wickets in Qualifier 1, they made it to the final by defeating Mumbai Indians by 5 wickets in Qualifier 2.
But they missed out on the final by 6 runs. Still, Preity says, “The job is only half done.”

Preity also thanked the fans, her “Sher Squad”, wholeheartedly.
“Without you, we wouldn’t have reached here. You supported us through every difficulty. I promise, we will come back stronger next year.”
When RCB won their first IPL trophy after 18 years, Preity’s words made it clear that Punjab Kings’ mission is far from over.
They have a great core team, passionate leadership from skipper Shreyas Iyer, and the undying love of the fans. Punjab Kings’ return in IPL 2026 is worth waiting for.
