The star cricketer Rohit Sharma is famous for his funny stump-mic talks. Many of these conversations go viral on social media because of his unique style. One recent incident happened during the match between India and New Zealand in Bengaluru.
While India was fielding Rohit was seen chatting with off-spinner R Ashwin about how to get out a left-handed batsman from New Zealand – likely Rachin Ravindra.
Rohit was heard saying to Ashwin, “Lefty ko out karna hai yaar mere ko” (I want to get the left-handed batter out). Ashwin responded, “Mai daalta hu naa” (I will bowl then). Rohit then told Ashwin to bowl from a specific end, saying, “Idhar se daal phir” (Bowl from this end). He added, “Zyada hero ban raha hai woh” (He is trying to be too smart).
Regarding whom Rohit intended as the left-handed batsman, it seemed he was talking about Rachin Ravindra. New Zealand had three left-handed batsmen in their top seven: Tom Latham, Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra.
Latham struggled and scored low in both innings while Conway made a strong 91 in the first innings. However Ravindra had a standout match scoring an impressive 134 runs off 157 balls in the first innings, along with an unbeaten 39 runs in the second innings.
New Zealand now leads the series 1-0. Ravindra was named Player of the Match for his performance as New Zealand surprised India with an 8-wicket victory. India was bowled out for just 46 runs in their first innings which was a key moment in the match.
New Zealand scored 402 in response leading by 356 runs. India fought back with Sarfaraz Khan and Rishabh Pant putting in strong performances including Sarfaraz’s first Test century. However a collapse in the middle order meant they lost control of the match.
With two more tests to go New Zealand aims to make history while India will look to come back strong in the next Test in Pune. Rohit Sharma and his team are expected to put up a tough fight in the forthcoming matches.
