Jos Buttler watched something special happen in the IPL recently. A 14-year-old kid walked out to bat and changed everything. Vaibhav Suryavanshi didn’t just play cricket – he owned it.

The England keeper knows talent when he sees it. After all, he’s faced the best bowlers in world cricket. When Buttler says this teenager reminds him of Brian Lara, people listen.

But it gets better. Buttler also mentioned Yuvraj Singh in the same breath. That’s two of cricket’s greatest-ever names being linked to a schoolboy.

    The Day Everything Changed

Picture this scene. Gujarat Titans’ bowling attack includes Mohammed Siraj and Rashid Khan. These aren’t club bowlers – they’re international stars. Most batsmen would be nervous facing them.

Suryavanshi stepped up to face his first ball. What did he do? Smashed it for six runs over the boundary. Just like that, he announced himself to cricket.

Then came the century. Thirty-five balls to reach three figures. Professional batsmen dream about innings like this one. Here was a teenager making it look routine.

Buttler couldn’t hide his amazement during his subsequent podcast appearance. He kept talking about how calm Suryavanshi looked throughout. No panic, no wild shots – just pure cricket.

    Why Experts Are Taking Notice

Stuart Broad joined Buttler on the podcast to discuss young talents. Even he admitted surprise at Rajasthan Royals picking someone so young. The age gap between Suryavanshi and his teammates is enormous.

But cricket doesn’t care about birth certificates when talent shows up. This boy has something different about his batting approach. His technique looks years ahead of his actual age.

The century against Gujarat wasn’t a one-off performance either. Suryavanshi kept scoring runs in subsequent matches too. He faced Chennai’s bowlers next and still found boundaries regularly.

Different opponents, same result. That’s what separates real talent from lucky breaks. Consistency at this level takes genuine skill and mental strength.

Buttler mentioned how intimidating it felt watching someone so young play. It’s not intimidating in a bad way – just impressive beyond belief.

    What This Means Going Forward

Cricket has always produced young stars occasionally. But Suryavanshi feels different somehow. His bat swing genuinely resembles Lara’s elegant style from the 1990s.

The power aspect brings Yuvraj comparisons into play too. Remember how Yuvraj used to clear boundaries effortlessly? This teenager shows similar hitting ability.

Other young cricketers will see what Suryavanshi achieved here. They’ll believe age doesn’t have to limit their ambitions anymore. That mindset shift could transform youth cricket completely.

The IPL gave him a perfect stage to showcase everything. Now cricket fans everywhere know about this remarkable talent from Bihar.
