Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, popularly known as ‘Captain Cool’, is famous for his calmness and understanding on the field.

But everyone was surprised to see Dhoni’s anger against Gujarat Titans (GT) in the last league match of IPL 2025.
Why did Dhoni get angry during GT vs CSK?
In this match played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Dhoni scolded his players while setting the fielding, which was a shocking moment for his fans.
During the match, Dhoni was setting the fielding before Ravindra Jadeja’s over started. But Shivam Dubey and Mathisha Pathirana ignored his instructions.
That’s it, Dhoni’s temper rose. The stump mic captured his displeasure, and this video went viral like fire on social media.
Dhoni was heard saying angrily, as if he was telling his players why he was not being heard. But the funny thing is that on the very next ball, Pathirana caught Shahrukh Khan at short third man, and Sai Sudarshan gave the ball to Dubey. Dhoni’s anger worked.
Why did the anger of ‘Captain Cool’ become the center of discussion?
CSK performed brilliantly in this match and defeated Gujarat Titans by 83 runs. CSK batted first and scored 238/5, with half-centuries from Dewald Brevis and Devon Conway along with brilliant innings from Urvil Patel and Ayush Mhatre.
In reply, GT collapsed for just 147 runs. Anshul Kamboj and Noor Ahmed broke the back of GT by taking 3-3 wickets.
But despite this victory, CSK remained at the bottom of the points table of IPL 2025.
After the match, Dhoni said, “Our season was not good, but it feels good to end it with a win. Our fielding and catching were lacking, but everything was right in this match.”
Dhoni also said that wrong decisions in the matches played in Chennai at the beginning of this season, like choosing to bat in the second innings, became a big reason for their defeat.
On his future, Dhoni said, “I will go to Ranchi, enjoy some bike rides, and will see after 4-5 months how well my body supports me.”
