Professional Cricket Career

He started training under coach Kapil Pandey in Kanpur. Initially, he aspired to become a fast bowler like cricketer Zaheer Khan. 

His Test debut came against Australia on March 25, 2017, at Dharamsala where he took four wkts. In 17 matches, he has taken 76 Test wickets with best bowling figures of 5/40.

His Test career includes memorable performances against England in 2024 when he claimed 19 wkts in four matches, which became a news.

His ODI debut came against West Indies on June 23, 2017, at Queen’s Park Oval. In 117 matches, he has taken 191 ODI wickets with best figures of 6/25 against England.

He became the first Indian to take two hat-tricks in ODI format – against Australia in 2017 and West Indies in 2019.

His T20I debut came against West Indies on July 9, 2017. In 50 matches, he has taken 90 T20 wickets with best figures of 5/17.
