When it comes to Ashes in the world of cricket, the name of Australia’s legendary fast bowler Glenn McGrath definitely comes into discussion. And this time too, McGrath has made a big claim in his familiar style.
After a 2-2 draw against India, McGrath has predicted a 5-0 whitewash of Australia in the Ashes and warned England of a tough challenge.
There is still more than three months left for the Ashes series to begin, which will begin in Perth from November 21. But McGrath has already heated up the atmosphere.

Speaking on BBC Radio, McGrath said,
“My prediction is pretty short, isn’t it? And I can’t predict anything other than 5-0. Looking at England’s record, it’ll be interesting to see if they can win a Test.”
Australian attack on fire
McGrath is confident of Australia’s strong bowling attack, which has dangerous players like Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and spinner Nathan Lyon. McGrath believes that England’s batting lineup will not be able to stand in front of them.
He is especially eyeing Joe Root and Harry Brook. He said,
“This series will be huge for Root. He’s never done that well in Australia – he hasn’t even got a century there. I love watching Brook play… Australia will have to get on top of him early.”
McGrath’s confidence comes from England’s recent 2-2 draw against India. This series exposed the weaknesses of England’s batting.
Australia’s home record is also excellent, with only two defeats in the last 15 home Tests. Australia crushed England 4-0 in the 2021-22 Ashes, and McGrath feels that history will repeat itself this time too.
However, McGrath also admitted that Australia’s top order is a bit weak, but he is confident that his bowling will destroy England.
Praising England coach Brendon McCullum, he said,
“I love seeing players go out and play with no fear, but they need to focus a bit more on the mental side of the game and accountability.”
