New Zealand Cricket has a new head coach now. Rob Walter will coach the Black Caps team in all formats. He comes from South Africa and brings lots of experience.

The cricket board picked Walter to replace Gary Stead recently. This marks a big change for New Zealand cricket fans. Walter will handle Test matches, ODIs, and T20 games together.
Who Is Rob Walter?
Rob Walter was born in Johannesburg on September 16, 1975. He started his coaching journey in South Africa many years ago. The 49-year-old coach has worked with different teams across countries.
Walter helped South Africa’s national team from 2009 to 2013 first. He worked as their fitness and fielding coach during that time. The team improved a lot under his guidance back then.

Later, he became the head coach of the Titans team. Walter led them to win several domestic tournaments successfully. His smart coaching methods helped players perform much better.
Walter moved to New Zealand and coached the Otago Volts team. He spent five years there and took them to finals twice. The players loved working with him during this period.
In April 2021, Walter joined the Central Stags as their coach. He helped young players develop their skills really well there. The team showed great improvement under his leadership style.
Walter then returned to coach South Africa’s national team again. He took this job in January 2023 but left recently. Now he wants to help New Zealand cricket grow stronger.
Gary Stead’s Amazing Time as Coach
Gary Stead coached New Zealand from 2018 until this year. He achieved some incredible things with the Black Caps team. Stead made New Zealand one of the best cricket teams worldwide.

Stead stepped down as white-ball coach in April this year. He wanted to focus only on Test cricket matches. The cricket board respected his decision and thanked him.
