The 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup is not far away, and the picture is slowly becoming clearer.
The 20-team tournament in the USA and West Indies in 2024 provided a lot of fun, and now all eyes are on the Regional Finals in 2025, where the remaining slots for the T20 World Cup 2026 will be decided.

The 2026 tournament will also be a 55-match tournament, with four groups of five teams each. This will be followed by the Super-8, semi-finals and final, after which a new champion will be chosen.
But before that, seven more teams will be selected through regional qualifiers.
So let’s see which teams are already ready and which teams are in the competition..
T20 WC 2026: Teams qualifying
Hosts India and Sri Lanka have already confirmed their place. Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa and West Indies, who reached the Super-8 of 2024, are also ready for 2026.
USA also surprised everyone by defeating Pakistan in the Super Over and made its place. Pakistan, New Zealand and Ireland qualified on the basis of their T20 rankings.
Canada defeated Bermuda, Bahamas and Cayman Islands in the America Regional Final and booked its ticket to 2026.
T20 World Cup 2026: Regional Finals Match
Now it is the turn of the remaining three regional finals:
- Africa (September 19 – October 4): Two teams will qualify. There will be a tough competition between Botswana, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe set a T20 record of 344 runs against Gambia, but Uganda surprised everyone by defeating them in the previous qualifiers.
- Asia/East Asia-Pacific (1-17 October): Three teams will be selected. Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Nepal, Oman, Papua New Guinea, Qatar, Samoa and UAE will compete. Samoa surprised everyone by defeating Vanuatu, while giants like Nepal and Oman are also in the fray.
- Europe (5-11 July): Two teams will qualify. There will be a battle between Guernsey, Italy, Jersey, Netherlands and Scotland. Italy’s new captain Joe Burns and Scotland’s strong team will make it exciting.
The 2026 T20 World Cup is going to be another explosive season of cricket. Upsets and emergence of new stars are certain in the regional finals.
