Good news for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fans, Mahendra Singh Dhoni finally broke his silence and gave a big hint about his future with CSK.
Will Thala return in the 2026 IPL season?
At a recent event, Dhoni teased the fans, saying,
“Me and CSK, we are together. You know, even for the next 15-20 years (crowd cheers). I hope they don’t think I will play for the next 15-20 years! But yes.”
The fans were overjoyed to hear this! Dhoni made it clear that his heart will always beat with the yellow jersey, whether he is on the field or in the dugout.

The last few years have not been easy for CSK. In IPL 2024, the team managed just 4 wins in 14 matches and finished at the bottom of the points table.
Nevertheless, when Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out due to injury, Dhoni took over the captaincy and won the hearts of fans with his leadership. Even at the age of 44, Dhoni’s magic remains intact.
At another event, he said, “It is not a matter of one or two years. I will always play in the yellow jersey. You know whether I will play after some time or not, but yes, you yourself know.”
Now it remains to be seen whether Dhoni will wear bat-gloves and take the field again?
What is Dhoni’s plan?
Dhoni has not yet clarified whether he will play in IPL 2026 or not. But one thing is certain from his statements – the relationship between CSK and Dhoni is unbreakable.
He said, “Yes, the last few years have not been good for us. We have not been able to perform as expected. But it is important that you learn.
Yes, you had a bad season. But what went wrong? And the same question was in front of us last year as well.”
That means Dhoni is still talking about learning and improving, which shows how committed he is to CSK.
Whether it is on the field or behind the scenes, Dhoni’s love for the yellow jersey is not going to end.
