Despite his poor performance in Test cricket recently, Rohit Sharma will get a chance to continue captaining the Indian team on the England tour.

Former cricketer and veteran commentator Navjot Singh Sidhu has raised his voice in support of Rohit Sharma and said that there is no one to replace him for the upcoming England tour.
Rohit’s poor form becomes a matter of concern
The 2024-25 season was very difficult for Rohit. He scored just 164 runs in 15 innings and averaged 10.93. His performance was even worse in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where he scored just 31 runs in 6 innings and averaged 6.20. Due to this poor form, he also had to miss the last Test against Australia in Sydney.
After losing to New Zealand at home and losing the Test series in Australia, questions were also being raised on Rohit’s captaincy. In such a situation, many people believed That maybe Team India needs a new captain.
“No one is better than Rohit” – Sidhu claims
Navjot Singh Sidhu said clearly in a conversation with Sports Tak,
“Who can you make the captain of the Test format at the last moment? You have no one. No one has performed like Rohit. You have no option. Rohit has experience.”
Sidhu further said, “You cannot replace Rohit with anyone else. His record in England is very good. You have to take experienced and young players along till the 2027 World Cup. You have to make the team combination right. Rohit will be the captain and he should be the captain.”
Sidhu also gave a lot of importance to Rohit’s experience of playing in England.
He said, “It is important for Virat and Rohit to play in England. Both have experience and there is no other option except them. Rohit knows the conditions of England very well. If anyone is scared in England, it is Rohit.”
He also admitted that there are players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill and KL Rahul, but still there is no one better than Rohit to terrorize the English team.
Apart from this, Sidhu also said an important thing that going from the flat pitches of IPL to the challenging conditions of England can be a big setback for the Indian team.
He said, “In IPL you will play on flat pitches and then go to England. You may get a setback there. You have to be fully prepared. Test cricket is a mirror for any player.”
