The Indian squad for the Australia tour was announced on Saturday. Mohammed Shami missed out on India’s squad for the Australia tour. The tour kicks off on October 19, 2025.

Shami says he’s fit and ready to play cricket. He took to his YouTube channel to clear the air. Shami wants people to know there’s nothing wrong with his body.
Shami Talks About His Fitness
Mohammed Shami trains hard every single day to stay match-ready. He played domestic cricket in the Duleep Trophy and bowled really well. Those performances show he still has plenty left in him.
“People want to know my opinion on the non-selection for the Australia series. I will just say that getting selected is not in my hands; it’s the job of the selection committee, coach, and captain. If they feel I should be there, they will select me, or if they feel some more time is needed, it’s in their hands. I am ready and practising,” Shami said.
“My fitness is also good. I will try to do better because when you are away from the ground, you need to remain motivated. I played in the Duleep Trophy. I felt very comfortable, my rhythm was good, and I bowled around 35 overs. There are no issues with my fitness,” he added.
Shami told everyone watching his channel that he’s completely fine physically. The 34-year-old works on his bowling and fitness without taking breaks. He’s putting in the effort to show he deserves another chance.

What Aakash Chopra Thinks
Former India player Aakash Chopra gave his take on Shami’s chances. Chopra thinks getting back into the team won’t be easy for Shami. The big problem is that he hasn’t played international cricket recently.
Chopra says Shami has to be absolutely brilliant in domestic matches now. The IPL will also be crucial for him to catch eyes. Only special performances will get the selectors thinking about him again.
The cricket commentator feels Shami is running against time here. Every match he plays from now on matters a lot. Scoring big in domestic cricket is his only real path back.
