The countdown to Asia Cup 2025 has begun and Indian cricket fans are eyeing this tournament to be held in UAE.
Meanwhile, Virender Sehwag has surprised everyone with his choice. Captain Suryakumar Yadav and Sanju Samson were not included in the list of game-changer players for India.

Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag has described three players as India’s trump cards for Asia Cup 2025 – Jasprit Bumrah, Abhishek Sharma and Varun Chakraborty.
In a conversation with Sony Sports, Sehwag said,
“I think Abhishek Sharma can be a game-changer. Bumrah is always a game-changer. Varun Chakravarthy, with his mystery bowling, was very effective in the Champions Trophy and in the T20 format as well.
So, these are some game changers for India who can win matches on their own.” That is, these three can turn the match on their own.
Bumrah’s magic
Jasprit Bumrah, who is making a comeback in T20 after the T20 World Cup 2024, tops Sehwag’s list. With 89 wickets in 70 T20 Internationals, Bumrah is India’s biggest weapon. His bowling can do wonders, especially on the UAE pitches.
Sehwag also said that it is important to manage the workload of players like Bumrah, but his fitness will be the key to India’s victory in big tournaments.
Power of Abhishek and Varun
Abhishek Sharma, who is famous for his explosive batting, has scored 535 runs in 17 T20 matches at a strike rate of 193.84. His innings of 135 runs is still India’s highest T20 score.
On the other hand, Varun Chakraborty’s mystery spin has impressed everyone with 33 wickets in 15 T20 matches. Sehwag believes that both of them can do wonders in UAE.
Why are Surya-Sanju out?
The biggest question is why Sehwag removed Suryakumar Yadav and Sanju Samson from his list? Under Surya’s captaincy, India has won four out of five T20 series, and Sanju has also performed brilliantly in opening.
Still, Sehwag ignored these two and expressed confidence in Bumrah, Abhishek and Varun.
