The ninth Group A match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 was to be played between Pakistan and Bangladesh on 27 February in Rawalpindi. The match was to start at 3:00 pm Indian time, but due to continuous rain, even the toss could not take place.
The ground staff tried their best to keep the pitch dry, but the outfield was not playable due to heavy rain. The umpires inspected several times, and the last time at 3:31 pm local time, the match was officially cancelled. Both the teams have been given 1-1 points as per the rules.
PAK vs BAN, After the match was cancelled, the captains of both the teams expressed disappointment.
Bangladesh captain Nazmul Hussain Shanto said:
“It is absolutely disappointing, but nothing was in our hands. We played some good cricket in this tournament, but also made some mistakes. We have to learn from them. Our young fast bowlers performed well. Players like Rana and Rishad Hussain will give us strength in the future.”
Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan said:
“It was raining continuously for the last few days, nothing could be done. Our team’s performance needs to improve. We will try to do better in the next series. We have to think professionally and learn from our mistakes.”
