Deep Dasgupta has some strong words for the Indian cricket team management recently. Former wicketkeeper critiques India’s management of Jasprit Bumrah after watching the England series. The ex-India player thinks the team bosses made a big mistake with Bumrah.

Dasgupta got upset because India announced that Bumrah would only play three Tests. He believes this was a really bad decision by the team management. Why announce such things before the series even started properly?

The former wicketkeeper thinks India should have kept their plans secret instead. This would have given them more choices about when to use Bumrah. Cricket matches can change quickly, and teams need to stay flexible at all times.

Bumrah Did Well But Left Early

Jasprit Bumrah bowled brilliantly during his three Test matches against England this summer. He took 14 wickets, which included two amazing five-wicket hauls for India. Everyone could see he was bowling at his absolute best during those games.

“Well, I think India shouldn’t have announced the fact that he would be playing only three Test matches prior to departing for the series. I mean, you can always take a call on his availability as and when based on his physical situation and series scenario.”

“But this thing of saying that he will be playing only three Test matches before the series has started, I think India could have avoided it,” Deep said.

Former wicketkeeper critiques India’s management of Jasprit Bumrah because of this strange decision. Dasgupta thinks the team should have used their best bowler in important matches. Why rest your star player when you need him most badly?

India replaced Bumrah with Prasidh Krishna for the fifth Test match. Krishna did pretty well too and grabbed eight wickets in the series. Still, many fans wondered why Bumrah had to sit out that crucial match.

“With Prasidh, he’s a quality bowler. I mean, his release is the best in this Indian team in terms of his backspin and seam position, and skill-wise, he’s right up there.”

“Only thing is, obviously, over the years, even though he made his first-class debut a long time ago, because of injuries and all, he hasn’t really played a lot of cricket and never got into a rhythm,” he added.

Wrong Way To Handle Star Players

Dasgupta believes India handled Bumrah’s fitness in the wrong way completely. He thinks telling everyone about the three-Test limits was really silly and unnecessary. This kind of announcement puts extra pressure on both player and team.

The ex-keeper wants India to make decisions based on how players feel. If Bumrah was fit and ready, why not let him play more? Cricket teams should adapt their plans according to match situations and player conditions.

Former wicketkeeper critiques India’s management of Jasprit Bumrah because world-class bowlers deserve better treatment. Dasgupta praised Krishna for stepping up well when Bumrah left the team.
