Day 2 of India’s 1st Test Against Bangladesh began at Chepauk Stadium. Bangladesh wanted to derive the advantage of the new ball.
They put the pressure in early when Taskin Ahmed sent Ravindra Jadeja back to the pavilion with a score of 86, breaking an important partnership of 199 runs with Ravichandran Ashwin.
India had ended the first day reasonably well at 339/6 after a difficult start at 34/3 by Bangladesh’s sharp bowling, much of its credit goes to Ahmed and Hasan Mahmud, who snatched away vital wickets.
Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal formed a 62-run partnership before Pant went back at 39. Jaiswal then went on to score his half-century (56) before getting dismissed.
Despite a tricky opening hour, Ashwin and Jadeja proved to be very handy as Ashwin scored a his sixth century. With the pitch easing now, the Indians can go for scoring in given occasions.
The day started with the question whether Bangladesh could manage to break the crucial partnership and how well India can extend their total beyond 400, probably leaving Bangladesh under enough pressure in their first innings.

India resumed their innings at 339/6, with Ashwin and Jadeja eager to build upon their partnership.
Ashwin, unbeaten on 102 at that point, aims to convert his century into a significant innings.
Jadeja, on the other hand, is eyeing his fifth Test century.
