Amazing in bowling too, has taken 484 wickets, including 34 five-wicket hauls. Has played for Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, RCB and Punjab Kings in IPL.
MCA issued a statement: “Jalaj Saxena is one of India’s most skilled and versatile all-rounders in domestic cricket. His career is marked by outstanding performances across all formats, earning him widespread acclaim from cricket experts and analysts.”
Then he further said: “His attributes are not limited to batting and bowling alone. His deep understanding of the game, strategic acumen, ability to perform under pressure, and his willingness to mentor young players make him an invaluable asset to the Maharashtra team.”
Big All-Rounder Boost
This is the second big step to strengthen the Maharashtra team. Earlier, Prithvi Shaw had come here from Mumbai. Australia’s Sean Williams has been made the Cricket Director.
Williams was earlier the coach of MCA in 2008-12, when the team played the Ranji quarter-finals and won the National T20 in 2009-10. He became GM in 2012, when the team reached the Ranji 2013-14 final and the Under-25 team won the CK Naydu Trophy.
MCA Chairman Rohit Pawar said: “Jalaj Saxena is an extremely talented and experienced cricketer whose achievements in the Ranji Trophy and domestic cricket are truly exceptional. He is one of the best all-rounders in India.”
Then added: “His vast experience will greatly benefit the young players in the Maharashtra team and his inclusion will strengthen the team considerably.”
Saxena had announced to leave Kerala on social media.
Now he said: “It is an honor to join the Maharashtra cricket team. Maharashtra cricket has a rich heritage and I am fully prepared to give my best contribution to the team.”
Then said: “Playing alongside players like Ruturaj Gaikwad, Prithvi Shaw and Ankit Bawne as well as many talented newcomers is a matter of pride. The Maharashtra Premier League is a great platform that helps emerging players showcase their talent.”
Williams commented: “With his all-round ability, experience and leadership qualities, he will be invaluable to both the team and the young cricketers seeking guidance. Jalaj Saxena is definitely a key prospect for Maharashtra this season.”
