ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif has made a shocking revelation. He has made a big demand from the International Cricket Council (ICC), so that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) can get more revenue.
All this is happening at a time when there is a tussle between the BCCI and the PCB over the venue of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Rashid Latif’s demand further widened the distance between the BCCI and the PCB
In his recent tweet, Latif shared a chart of the ICC’s financial model, which caught everyone’s attention. The share of all member countries was clearly visible in this chart.
The most interesting thing was that India’s share is 38.50%, while no other country’s share reaches 7%. That is, India earns the most money in cricket and also takes the largest share.
Pakistan’s demand: Increase in revenue
Rashid Latif made it clear that he has no problem with India getting the largest share. But they have a problem with Pakistan’s 5.75% share.
He believes that the PCB should also get more revenue. Latif has also made an interesting proposal regarding this whole thing. He said that if the final of the Champions Trophy is played in Dubai, then the final of the T20 World Cup 2026 should be played in Colombo.
PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi was also present on the occasion. They are also talking about equality and equal treatment.
“Revenue and venues till 2025-27 are important for both PCB and BCCI. The BCCI is entitled to 38.5%, but the PCB is also entitled to more than 5.75%.”
ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Current situation
The most interesting twist in this whole story is that there is a huge uncertainty about the conduct of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Pakistan was supposed to host the tournament but India’s reluctance to travel to Pakistan has derailed the entire plan.
The BCCI has made it clear that they cannot send their team to Pakistan. They have talked about playing the tournament in a hybrid model, which means some matches will be played at one place and some at another place. But the BJP is not ready for it. They have made it clear that they will not let the tournament go out of Pakistan.
Strangely, Pakistan have also threatened that they will not travel to India for further tournaments. They want all tournaments to be played in a hybrid model. At the moment, the situation is quite complicated and a solution is expected in the next few days.
