Ravindra Jadeja won everyone’s hearts with a brilliant century in the first Test match between India and West Indies being played in Ahmedabad.
India reached 447/5 in 127.5 overs by the end of the second day in this match being played at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
Jadeja’s explosive innings and Dhruv Jurel’s century gave India a strong lead of 285 runs. West Indies’ first innings was reduced to just 162 runs.

Jadeja shows all-rounder’s strength
Jadeja scored 104 runs in 176 balls, including 6 fours and 5 towering sixes. His innings was a wonderful blend of patience and aggression. He played cautiously initially and then hit big shots whenever he got the chance.
His 200-plus partnership with Dhruv Jurel completely rendered the West Indies bowlers useless. Jurel also scored 125 runs off 210 balls, including 15 fours and 3 sixes.
KL Rahul also played a brilliant innings of 100 runs, strengthening India’s grip.
West Indies bowlers rendered helpless
The West Indies bowlers were completely helpless against the Indian batsmen. Jayden Seales dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal for 36, but wickets became difficult to take after that.
Roston Chase took 2 wickets, but his bowling lacked sharpness. Khary Pierre and Jemell Warrican also took 1 wicket each, but the pair of Jadeja and Jurel thrashed all the bowlers.
India lost only 5 wickets by the end of the day’s play, taking the score to 447.
In the West Indies’ first innings, Mohammed Siraj took four wickets and Jasprit Bumrah took three wickets, destroying their batting.
India now has a strong position, and Jadeja’s innings put the team in the driving seat.
Washington Sundar is unbeaten on eight, and India will look to extend their lead on the third day. It now seems extremely difficult for the West Indies to make a comeback.
