India allrounder Ravindra Jadeja reached a new career milestone during the third Test between India and New Zealand in Mumbai. With this achievement Jadeja joins a prestigious group that includes legends like Anil Kumble, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Kapil Dev.
The left-arm spinner reached this feat by taking his third wicket of the day dismissing Glenn Phillips with a brilliant arm ball that didn’t turn and moved in sharply after pitching. The ball hit Phillips’ stumps as he struggled to read its path.
With Phillips’ wicket, Jadeja moved into the top five highest wicket-takers for India in Test cricket, surpassing Ishant Sharma and Zaheer Khan, who each claimed 311 wickets in their Test careers.
Jadeja now ranks fifth on India’s all-time Test wicket-takers list. At the top is Anil Kumble with 619 wickets. Ravichandran Ashwin follows with 533 wickets.
India’s legendary allrounder Kapil Dev is third on the list with 434 wickets, making him the highest wicket-taker among India’s fast bowlers. Harbhajan Singh, with 417 wickets in 103 Tests, takes the fourth spot, while Jadeja is nearly 100 wickets behind Harbhajan.

All the players on this list, except Jadeja, are specialist bowlers. As an allrounder, Jadeja has been exceptional for India, contributing both with the bat and ball, showing his impact on the team over the years.

While his bowling has always been a strength, his batting improvement has been a highlight of his career, as Jadeja has become a reliable batter in any condition.
In this Test, Jadeja took his 14th five-wicket haul in Mumbai. After New Zealand’s strong start, Jadeja’s consistent breakthroughs helped India limit them to 235 in the first innings, finishing with 5-65 in 22 overs.
