The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team is up for sale. United Spirits Limited, the Indian arm of Diageo, has written a letter to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

It states that it is reviewing its investments in Royal Challengers Sports Private Limited (RCSPL), its wholly-owned subsidiary.
This process is beginning for both the men’s and women’s teams. The company has clearly stated in its disclosure that it expects the process to be completed by March 31, 2026.
RCB fans may be shocked to hear this, as the team recently won its first IPL title.
But now a new chapter is about to begin with New Owners. Now People are searching for the answer to the question: Who will buy RCB? So Let’s Check here..
Why is the old ownership leaving?
United Spirits MD and CEO Pravin Someshwar said, “The RCSPL has been a valuable and strategic asset for USL. However, it is non-core to our alcoholic beverage business.”
This means that the team is not linked to their alcohol business, so they want to sell it and focus on their core work.
Someshwar further said, “This step is to reinforce USL and Diageo’s commitment to continue reviewing its India enterprise portfolio to enable sustained delivery of long-term value to all stakeholders while also keeping RCSPL’s best interest in mind.”
This decision didn’t come suddenly. Until recently, RCB had been embroiled in a major controversy. On June 4th, they were stampeded outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
During the IPL 2025 title celebrations, the crowd got out of control, and the matter escalated into a political storm.
Speculation had been rife since then that USL and Diageo would lose the team.
Who WIll buy RCB?
According to Cricbuzz, five big names are in the race to buy RCB – American private investment firm Adani Group, Adar Poonawalla, JSW Group, and Devyani International Group.
