Rishabh Pant got badly injured during the fourth Test against England. His foot injury happened in July and sidelined him completely. The wicketkeeper-batsman has been recovering at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

Pant recently opened up about his tough rehabilitation journey honestly. He felt frustrated and demotivated many times during the recovery period. The mental struggle was harder than physical pain sometimes surprisingly. BCCI shared a video where Pant talks about everything openly.
Rishabh Pant’s Emotional Battle During Injury Recovery
Coming back from serious injuries tests players mentally more than physically. Pant admitted feeling frustrated with the slow progress initially every day. Some days, he felt completely demotivated about his cricket future. Staying positive became his biggest challenge during those dark moments.
“I started my rehab slowly, slowly, went through a little bit of, you know, physio work in the initial 10-15 days, slowly, slowly getting back to doing my strength, a little bit of rehab. And it all started from there as a second phase for me, and right now I’m here with you, fully recovered. Thanks to COE for that,” Pant said.
The physios and coaches at the centre helped him tremendously. They created a supportive environment that lifted his spirits constantly. Pant said their encouragement kept him going through painful therapy sessions.
“Being positive is really a mindset thing. During an injury, you tend to get demotivated. The energy levels are not great, you are frustrated, you know. But if you can do small, small things that make you feel good, you have to do that part also, especially when you are injured,” he added.
The rehab started with slow physical therapy exercises at first. Gradually, he moved to proper strength training and batting drills. Each small improvement gave him hope to continue fighting harder.

World-Class Facilities Helped Rishabh Pant’s Comeback
The BCCI COE offered amazing rehabilitation facilities for Pant. He praised the top-notch equipment available for his recovery work. The centre provided not just rehab space but excellent practice nets.
“And as I said before, COE, you’ll find one of the best practice facilities also, it’s not just a rehab place. You come here for practice also, you have three big rounds, you have like 60 wickets for practice, you get centre wicket practice.
“If a person wants to practice here, I think this is one of the best places. You can have your own space, you can come here to practice. And that’s what I did because, you know, this is your own safe place where you feel very safe coming here,” Pant said.
Pant could work on his batting skills while recovering slowly. This dual approach helped him stay connected to cricket mentally. Having everything under one roof definitely made the process easier.
