Sanju Samson’s cricket journey is no less than a roller-coaster ride. Sometimes sky-high success, sometimes waiting for opportunities
But this time Samson has revealed something that will surprise his fans. Recently, on R Ashwin’s YouTube channel, Samson shared an old thing from his career.
which included Gautam Gambhir’s warning, which changed his thinking.

Samson told that once during a match against Andhra Pradesh in the Duleep Trophy, Suryakumar Yadav had promised him,
“There are seven matches to be played, and you will open in every one.”
This trust was very big for him. But the start on the Sri Lanka tour was not good. He got out on zero in the first two matches.
Disappointment and pressure started increasing in the mind. Then Gautam Gambhir, whom he calls “Gauti Bhai”, came to him.
When Samson mentioned his failure, Gambhir said something that settled in Samson’s heart forever.
Gambhir said, “I’ll remove you from the team only if you get out on zero 21 times.”
Game-Changing Moment
This one line became the turning point for Samson. Gambhir’s belief was the fuel for him, which set his batting on fire in 2024. This year, Samson scored three centuries in just five T20I matches.
One century against Bangladesh at home and two against South Africa on foreign soil. This is a record that no batsman can break in a year.
But the twist in the story came when Samson’s relationship with Rajasthan Royals (RR) came into the limelight. It is reported that there have been some differences between Samson and RR.
Samson, who has been with the franchise since 2013 and has also been the captain, now wants out. He has formally demanded a trade or release. He is priced at Rs 18 crore, and teams like Chennai Super Kings are keeping an eye on him.
But the question is, will RR let go of their star player so easily? And if Samson is not willing, will he be able to show the same magic for the team as before?
