Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy: Shami played a crucial role in Bengal’s emphatic win over Meghalaya in a Group A match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot.
Shami’s bowling changed the entire atmosphere of the match. His four overs, in which he gave away just 16 runs, proved to be the turning point of the match. Although he did not take wickets, his accurate and fast deliveries proved to be very difficult for the Meghalaya batsmen.
His line and length were so good that the Meghalaya batsmen looked under constant pressure.
In the match, Bengal’s young star Abhishek Porel won the whole team with his storming batting. His 31-ball 61 was studded with 9 fours and 2 sixes. His innings changed the course of the match.
While three of the team’s batsmen were dismissed for ducks, Porel pulled the entire team out of trouble with his stormy batting.
Ritik Chatterjee also played a crucial role in the team’s chase with his unbeaten 25. Arion Sangma’s 37 and Larry Sangma’s 38 were also crucial. With this win, Bengal consolidated their position in the tournament.
The tournament also witnessed many exciting twists and turns in other matches. Punjab’s Naman Dhir bowled brilliantly against Hyderabad, in which he took 5 wickets and gave only 19 runs.
It was his superlative performance that helped Punjab win by seven runs.
The match between Jharkhand and Haryana was also very exciting. Yuzvendra Chahal and Harshal Patel took two wickets each. Patel took 2 wickets and gave away just 16 runs while Chahal took 1 wicket and gave away 13 runs.
The match between Gujarat and Sikkim also had many interesting twists and turns. Gujarat rode on Axar Patel and Ravi Bishnoi’s economical bowling to restrict Sikkim to 101. Arya Desai played a crucial role in Gujarat’s win with an unbeaten 47 off 48 balls.
Harvik Desai, Ruchit Ahir and Leigh Gohil starred with the bat in the Saurashtra vs Baroda match. Saurashtra were bowled out for 266, handing Baroda a 78-run defeat. Baroda’s team looked completely ineffective in the absence of Hardik Pandya.
