Delhi Capitals Team went big on Shree Charani during the WPL 2026 auction. They bought her for ₹1.30 crore which is way above her ₹30 lakh base. That’s over four times what she was valued at initially before bidding started.

Her WPL team saw something special after her World Cup performances this year. Shree Charani finished as one of the top wicket-takers during that tournament. The amount jump shows how quickly things can change in women’s cricket nowadays.
The 21-year-old left-arm spinner basically doubled her previous salary with this deal. Her salary reflects a massive 140% increase from what she earned before. Delhi Capitals clearly believe she will be worth every rupee for next season.
From Kadapa to Cricket Stardom
Shree Charani comes from a really humble background in Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh. She started playing cricket informally around her neighborhood before getting serious about it. Her journey to professional cricket wasn’t easy given where she came from originally.
She trained at the GHMC cricket academy under coach Marripuri Suresh who spotted her talent. Her fitness levels and power hitting impressed everyone watching her practice sessions there. Shree Charani’s consistent performances got her selected for the Andhra state team eventually.
A five-wicket haul in the Senior Women’s Multi-Day Challenger Trophy grabbed attention in 2025. That bowling spell basically announced her arrival on the domestic cricket scene loudly. Her WPL team probably started tracking her performances right after that match happened.
Breakout Year Led to Massive WPL Price
December 2024 marked Shree Charani’s WPL debut where she dismissed Ellyse Perry in her first match. Taking out such an experienced international player boosted her confidence levels massively immediately. That wicket proved she belonged at this level of cricket competition.
The 2026 international debut came in both ODIs and T20Is for India recently. She won Player of the Series in her very first T20I series. The Women’s ODI World Cup saw her grab 11 wickets across 7 matches.
Those World Cup performances directly influenced her auction amount shooting up so dramatically. Her WPL team got a proven match-winner who performs under pressure consistently now. The ₹1.30 crore price might actually look cheap if she keeps bowling like this.
