Big news has emerged regarding India’s star cricketer Shreyas Iyer. He was seriously injured at the Sydney Cricket Ground during the third and final ODI against Australia.
The accident occurred when he ran to take a difficult catch from Alex Carey off Harshit Rana.
He took the catch, but collapsed in pain and was immediately rushed to the hospital.

Shreyas Iyer Surgery and Recovery Update
Medical scans revealed that Shreyas suffered a spleen injury and rib damage, which caused internal bleeding.
According to a Cricbuzz report, he underwent surgery on October 28 and has now fully recovered.
The surgery was minor, but doctors have advised him to rest for 5 to 7 days.
The report said, “We can confirm that Shreyas Iyer recently underwent surgery and has totally recovered since.
The surgery was apparently a minor procedure, but it has required Iyer to rest for at least five more days, possibly even up to a week.”
BCCI and team support for Iyer
The BCCI and Indian team management are closely monitoring Shreyas’ recovery. Team physician Dr. Rizwan Khan is in Australia and is constantly monitoring his health.
The BCCI has also sent a family member to Sydney to be with him during this time. Shreyas’ condition is now significantly improving.
He is talking on the phone, enjoying food prepared by friends, and performing daily activities with ease.
India’s T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav also expressed happiness over Shreyas’ recovery.
He said in the press conference, “The doctors and physios said that whatever happened was unfortunate. This kind of thing rarely happens. But Shreyas is also rare. So, rare things sometimes happen with rare talent.
But it’s okay. God was with him; he is recovering really well. All the doctors are supporting him. BCCI is in full support. So, he will recover soon, and then we will take him home with us.”
Shreyas is in good spirits now and is expected to return to India fully fit soon.
The medical team will review his progress and then a decision will be taken on his return to India.
