Shubman Gill After a brilliant captaincy in England, now this 25-year-old “Prince” is going to take charge of North Zone in the Duleep Trophy.
Gill recently showed amazing performance in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, where he not only broke records with the bat, but also impressed everyone as a captain.
Now he is ready to lead North Zone to victory in the Duleep Trophy starting on 28 August in Bengaluru.

Gill’s performance against England
Gill scored 754 runs in the five-Test series in England, which included four centuries and a double century.
His average was 75.40, this figure is so great that he broke Sunil Gavaskar’s record (732 runs) and came second in the list of most runs scored by a captain in a five-Test series after Sir Donald Bradman (810 runs).
Gill said, “I was under pressure going into the series with a Test average of 35, but I saw it as an opportunity to step up, both as a batsman and a leader.”
Starting with a brilliant innings of 147 runs at Headingley, then scoring 269 and 161 runs at Edgbaston, India levelled the series.
Thanks to a brilliant innings of 103 runs in Manchester and an amazing spell by Mohammad Siraj in the last Test, India won a thrilling 6-run victory.
This win turned a 3-1 defeat into a 2-2 draw. Gill was chosen as the Player of the Series, and he proved that he is not just a batsman but also a great leader.
What will happen in the Duleep Trophy?
The Duleep Trophy is returning to its old regional format this time, where selectors from each region will select their teams. Last year, South Zone won the title, but this time, under Gill’s captaincy, North Zone has their eyes on the trophy.
Gill managed the senior players in England, handled Jasprit Bumrah’s limited availability, and now he is ready to show the same magic in this domestic tournament.
