The dates of Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2025 have been announced. This will be the sixth season of the T20 tournament and will run from 27 November to 23 December.
Five teams will clash in the LPL. Like every time, this time too, talented players of Sri Lanka and big international stars will shine on the field.
This tournament is not just for fun, but also to prepare for the ICC T20 World Cup to be held in 2026, which will be hosted by Sri Lanka and India together.
LPL’s Masterplan!
LPL Tournament Director Samantha Dodanwella said,
“The purpose of conducting the LPL during this time frame is to align the tournament with the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.”
That is, Sri Lankan players will get a tremendous dose of T20 before the World Cup.
The matches will be held in three magnificent stadiums – Colombo’s R. Premadasa, Pallekele in Kandy and Rangiri Stadium in Dambulla. The atmosphere everywhere will be full-on cricket.
LPL: The glory of Jaffna Kings
Talking about the history of LPL, Jaffna Kings have won. Four out of five seasons were won by them.
However, in 2023, Kandy Falcons surprised everyone by lifting the trophy. Who will win this time? It will be fun to watch!
Bonus of Asia Cup 2025
Along with LPL, Sri Lanka Cricket has another big plan. The 2025 Asia Cup will start in UAE from September 9, where Sri Lanka will defend its championship.
In 2022, Sri Lanka won the T20 Asia Cup by defeating Pakistan. This time their group is with Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Hong Kong.
Hong Kong has made former Sri Lankan player Kaushal Silva its coach. This match is also going to be full masala!
