Legendary former English fast bowler Stuart Broad said it is a shame for England that a cricketer can’t play due to injury. Broad admitted that the absence of the skipper is a blow beyond doubt, but he supported his decision to play in “The Hundred”.
He further said that Stokes is a player who likes to bat and bowl and for a highly intense player, he should continue to play to minimize the risk of injury.
He was speaking to the PA news agency in the concluding ceremony of the Sage Small Business XI competition (which he launched in June). He wants his team to think positively in the wake of injured captain Ben Stokes’s absence. Broad further highlighted how “unlucky” Stokes had been since he invested a lot in his fitness.
But, to think positively, his absence will give another player an opportunity. This can be a trial for the team to find hidden gems.
The test march between England and Sri Lanka will start from August 21 at Old Trafford Cricket Ground.
Stuart Broad also jokingly spoke about how Stokes is willing to be the coach during the upcoming Sri Lanka series. He received the text informing him about the same.
Stokes had just written a golden moment last month by scoring the fastest Test half-century by an England batter to win the series against West Indies 3-0
One hopes and pray for a speedy recovery as Injuries have been a part of several players across the world and it’s a matter of time before he will regain the charisma as a skipper like the way he has been doing up until now.
