Both Indian and Australian players donned black armbands on October 31 during their T20I match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The reason for this tribute was the tragic death of 17-year-old cricketer Ben Austin. He was fatally injured during a practice session.
The event has cast a pall over Australian cricket. This shows the unity and respect among players in times of tragedy. This gesture conveys heart and support from the Indian cricket team and the BCCI towards their Australian mates.
Ben Austin sustained a critical neck injury after being hit by a cricket ball. He was wearing a helmet, but he was using a handheld ball launcher. He got hit badly. The ground staff rushed him to the hospital. After the injury, he was placed on life support but unfortunately passed away two days later.

Similar Case Happened Before
Ben’s tragic death reminds us of the earlier death of Australian cricketer Phillip Hughes due to a similar injury in 2014. Phil Hughes was a rising star in Australian Cricket.
