There is an uproar in the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), Farooq Ahmed has been removed from the post of board president and former captain Aminul Islam Bulbul has been brought in his place. And all this has happened only and only because of performance.

Bangladesh sports advisor Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyan clearly said that this decision has been taken to save cricket from sinking.
Asif, while talking to the media during the National Handball Championship on Sunday, said,
“We had some expectations from the cricket board, but unfortunately, they were not fulfilled. The condition of cricket is deteriorating day by day. I cannot let cricket sink in front of me!”
Reason for big change: Mismanagement in BPL
So what was the reason for this big change? The matter begins with the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Huge irregularities in the management came to light during the BPL. A fact-finding committee exposed many irregularities, including administrative failure.
The result was that the financial problems increased so much that the government had to intervene for the payment of players and other expenses.
Asif said, “We did not find any evidence of corruption, but it was clear from the BPL report that there was a big lapse in management. In such a situation, it was necessary to check the performance of the leadership.”
The decision to remove Farooq was taken when eight out of nine directors of BCB passed a no-confidence motion against him.
Asif said, “Just like a team is needed in cricket, similarly a board is also needed. But the directors were not comfortable working with Farooq. This is not a personal matter, it is a matter of performance. Just like a player is dropped for repeated failures, similarly the administrators will also have to be held accountable.”
What is the plan now?
Asif also clarified that this decision was taken by the National Sports Council (NSC), which has the right to remove or bring directors.
Farooq was not removed from the post of president directly, but his nomination as director was withdrawn, which automatically ended his post of president.
After this, Aminul was elected as the new president as per the rules of BCB.
The special thing is that this appointment of Aminul may be temporary. Asif told that the next elections of BCB can be held in October.
He said, “Aminul bhai has taken this responsibility by leaving his ICC salary post for cricket. This shows his commitment.”
Asif also told that ICC has been informed about this change and they have welcomed it. Also, he made it clear that this is not a political drama, but a decision based entirely on facts.
“Every sports journalist exposed the irregularities of BPL. The fact-finding committee also said the same. We worked on the basis of facts, not on anyone’s opinion.”
For now, Asif said that every sports organization will now be judged on the basis of its progress report and financial audit.
“If I fail, I could be dropped. It is just a matter of improving Bangladesh cricket.”
