As the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2026 concluded, another big piece of news emerged for cricket fans. The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the Team of the Tournament.

This special team comprises 12 players, including players from India, England, Afghanistan, Australia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and the West Indies.
This was particularly special for India, as three players from the World Cup-winning team, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Kanishk Chauhan, and Henil Patel were selected for this list.
Three players from the runner-up England team also made it to the team.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s Record-Breaking Performance
What Vaibhav Suryavanshi did against England in the final match will forever be remembered in the history of Under-19 cricket. He smashed 175 runs off just 80 balls.
His strike rate in this innings was 218.75, and he hit 15 fours and 15 sixes. Remarkably, 150 of his runs came from boundaries alone.
With this performance, Vaibhav also broke the record for the most sixes in a single innings. The previous record was held by Australia’s Michael Hill, who had hit 12 sixes.
Vaibhav scored 439 runs in the entire tournament and was also chosen as the Player of the Tournament.
India’s Kanishk Chauhan consistently performed well with both bat and ball, while Henil Patel took 11 wickets, including a brilliant spell of 5/16 against the USA.
Strong Performances from England, Afghanistan, and Other Countries
From England, Thomas Rew was named the team’s captain and wicketkeeper. He scored 330 runs at an average of 66 and also scored a century against Australia in the semi-final.
England’s Ben Mayes was the tournament’s highest run-scorer, with 444 runs, including an innings of 191 against Scotland. Manny Lumsden took the most wickets with 16. Sri Lanka’s Veen Chamuditha made history by scoring 192 runs against Japan.
Afghanistan’s Faisal Khan Shinwari and Nooristani Umarazai played a crucial role in guiding their team to the semi-finals.
Australia’s captain Oliver Peake, Pakistan’s Ali Raza, and West Indies’ Vital Laws were also part of this team.
The ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2026 Team of the Tournament was selected by a panel comprising Ian Bishop, Lydia Greenway, Andy Flower, and Telford Vice. This team showcases the future stars of international cricket.
