India’s biggest domestic 50-over tournament is about to kick off soon. The Vijay Hazare Trophy teams are getting ready for an epic battle starting December 24, 2025.

This year brings the 33rd edition of this iconic competition organized by the BCCI. A whopping 38 teams will fight it out across 21 venues until January 18, 2026.

The Vijay Hazare Trophy features two separate divisions for all participants this season. The Elite Division houses 32 sides split into four groups with eight sides each. Meanwhile, the Plate Division includes six sides competing for their own glory in 2025.
Karnataka enters as defending champions and will defend their title fiercely this time around. Every team on the list wants to grab that trophy and take it home. The Elite Division teams will battle through seven matches each during the group stage.
Plate Division side plays five matches before the knockouts begin for everyone involved. This setup gives every team enough chances to prove themselves on the field.
Star Players and Match Venues
Guess who’s playing? Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma confirmed they’ll represent their state team in the tournament. Other big names from international cricket are also joining their respective states. Fans will get to watch their heroes playing domestic cricket up close this year.
The contest plays across 21 different venues throughout India for full reach. Major cricket grounds in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, and Jaipur will host several important matches. The grand final happens in Bengaluru on January 18, 2026 where one team becomes the winner.
