Hazlewood Feels Shy About “HazleGod” Name
Josh talked about his nickname in an ICC Instagram video. He seemed a bit embarrassed but also happy about it. The Australian bowler laughed when he heard the name.
“Hopefully, it runs out of steam pretty quickly,” Hazlewood said. He doesn’t think Australian fans will start using this name. “I don’t think it’ll take off in Australia,” he added.
Josh feels grateful that Indian fans appreciate his cricket skills. He knows they gave him this name with love. But he prefers staying humble about his bowling achievements.
Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon heard about Josh’s new nickname too. Both Australian cricketers found it quite amusing and interesting. They shared their thoughts in the same ICC video.
Starc praised Josh’s excellent form during the IPL season. He joked that he hoped the nickname would stick around. Starc thinks Josh deserves this special recognition from Indian fans.

Josh played 12 matches for RCB during the IPL 2025 season. He bowled really well in almost every single game. His fast bowling troubled many famous batsmen from different teams.
Hazlewood took 22 wickets in 12 matches, with a bowling average of just 17.54 runs. This made him the best bowler for his team.
