The second Test match between India and the West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi witnessed major drama on Friday.
Team India captain Shubman Gill and West Indies wicketkeeper Tevin Imlach collided, injuring both of them.
The collision was so severe that play was stopped for a while.

Shubman Gill and Tevin Imlach Collided
The incident occurred on the fifth ball of the 85th over. Yashasvi Jaiswal played a flick shot off Anderson Phillip’s bowling and took a quick single. Jaden Seals threw the ball towards the stumps, which went outside.
Imlach moved forward to catch the ball, while Gill was trying to reach the crease quickly. The two collided with each other, causing a moment of silence on the field. The physio immediately arrived on the field and treated both players.
There were concerns that Gill might have a concussion, but the relief was that both were cleared to continue playing.
Yashasvi Jaiswal tried to lighten the mood and was seen doing a “concussion test” on Gill in a humorous manner.
Yashasvi-Sudarshan pair dominated
India’s game on the first day was in their favor. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a brilliant century (173 runs), while Sai Sudarshan made 87 runs.
Together, they shared a 193-run partnership for the second wicket, putting India in a strong position.
Sudarshan responded to his critics with a superb batting performance. At stumps, India’s score was 318/2 in 90 overs, with Gill (20 runs) and Jaiswal at the crease.
Jomel Warrican took two wickets for the West Indies, including the wicket of KL Rahul (38 runs).
Sai Sudarshan said after the day, “It was a good contribution, a good partnership between me and Jaiswal. Hopefully, we will have longer partnerships and put up big scores.”
He further said, “Definitely, I wasn’t thinking about scoring runs, so I was a bit freer, expressed myself, took my time instead of rushing things. I’m grateful for whatever I’ve done, but there’s always something in my mind to score more runs. Happy with the runs, but want to score more.”
India won the first Test in Ahmedabad by an innings and 140 runs and are now looking for a clean sweep in Delhi.
The pair of Yashasvi and Sudarshan have pushed West Indies on the back foot.
