The news of the engagement of Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj and cricketer Rinku Singh has created a stir everywhere.

Who is Rinku Singh’s fiancee Priya Saroj?
Priya Saroj is a resident of Karkhiyaanv village in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. In 2024, she became an MP from Machhlishahr at the age of just 25 and was among the youngest MPs in the country.
She surprised everyone by defeating BJP veteran BP Saroj by over 35,000 votes. Priya’s father Tufani Saroj has been an MP thrice and is currently an MLA from Kerakat.

Priya Saroj’s journey from law to politics
Priya did not dream of joining politics. She did her schooling from Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute in Delhi.
Then she graduated from Delhi University and got an LLB degree from Amity University, Noida. Before entering politics, she was practicing law in the Supreme Court.
Priya told in an interview, “I was preparing for the judgeship exam during Covid-19. Even when the SP gave me a ticket, I was taking online classes.”
Her legal understanding and new perspective make her a strong leader in her area.
How did Priya Saroj meet Rinku Singh?
Priya and Rinku met through a common friend, whose father is a cricketer. Both have known each other for more than a year. Tufani Saroj said,
“Rinku and Priya liked each other, but family consent was necessary for the relationship. Now both the families have agreed to this marriage.”
Rinku, who is from Aligarh, made headlines in 2023 by hitting five sixes in an over for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL.
For now, fans are considering Priya and Rinku’s engagement as a unique confluence of the world of politics and sports.
