India faced defeat in the first Test against England, and now all eyes are on the second Test starting on July 2.

Why Kuldeep Yadav Must Play in Edgbaston Test?
Indian cricket legends Sunil Gavaskar, Harbhajan Singh, Saba Karim and Navjot Singh Sidhu have clearly told coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Shubman Gill that Kuldeep Yadav must be included in the playing XI in the Edgbaston Test.
In the first Test, India had decided to field four fast bowlers – Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna and Shardul Thakur.
But except Jasprit Bumrah, the performance of the rest of the bowlers was not very good. Shardul Thakur especially disappointed.
He bowled only 6 overs in the first innings and 10 overs in the second, but could not show any special feat. His contribution with the bat was also only 5 runs.
Kuldeep’s brilliant performance
Now the veterans believe that it is important to give Kuldeep Yadav a chance.
Gavaskar said, “The wrist spinner will get help on the Birmingham pitch. Kuldeep should be brought in place of Shardul.”
Saba Karim reminded Kuldeep of his brilliant performance against England in 2024, when he took 17 wickets.
Harbhajan Singh also said, “Kuldeep is a great option to take wickets. India will benefit from his presence.”
Navjot Singh Sidhu went a step further and suggested that Arshdeep Singh should also get a chance, so that he creates roughness on the pitch, which will benefit Kuldeep.
Sidhu said, “The pair of Arshdeep and Kuldeep can become a problem for England.”
What will change?
Ravindra Jadeja was the only spinner in the first Test, but his performance was also not very special. Now, the Edgbaston pitch, which could favour spinners, could open the doors for Kuldeep.
