Former Indian player Suresh Raina, who is currently playing for India Legends in the World Championship of Legends, said in Birmingham,
“Bumrah’s playing depends on the doctor’s decision. He is a legend, he understands his workload very well. His performance at Lord’s created history, where he registered his name on the Honors Board with a five-wicket haul.”
Bumrah was going to play only three Tests in this series, as it is important to manage his fitness and workload.
He played in the first and third Tests, where he took 12 wickets. But now the question is whether he will play in Manchester or will he be a reserve for the last Test.
Assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate has also indicated that there is a high possibility of Bumrah playing in Manchester, but the final decision will be taken after looking at the conditions there and his fitness.
Raina also said that it is important for Rishabh Pant to play along with Bumrah. Pant has a finger injury, but if he remains fit, he can also do wonders as a batsman.
Raina believes, “If India has to make a comeback in the series, then it is important for both Bumrah and Pant to be on the field.”
What is the backup plan?
If Bumrah is unable to play, then young fast bowler Anshul Kamboj can get a chance. Kamboj caught everyone’s attention with his brilliant bowling in the Ranji Trophy.
However, Arshdeep Singh’s injury has also increased the tension of the team, due to which Kamboj has been called as a backup.
